Seattle is one of the most diverse communities in the country. According to the 2010 census, Seattle had a population of 652,923 residents, making it the fifth largest city in the United States. In addition, Washington state has one of the highest percentages of openly gay and lesbian adults in the nation at 2.7%.
With such diversity, there is always room for improvement. One area that needs improvement is the lack of queer friendly spaces. There are very few places where people of different orientations can socialize without fear of discrimination. That is why it is important to create spaces for people to come together and support each other.
There are several ways to help the LGBTQ community thrive in Seattle. For example, the Pride Parade is held every year during the summer months. This celebration brings thousands of people together to celebrate pride and show their support for the LGBTQ community. Another event that takes place throughout the year is Queer Film Fest which showcases films about the LGBTQ community. These events provide opportunities for people to learn more about the community and also provides an opportunity to connect with others.
Another great way to support the LGBTQ community is to donate to organizations that provide services to the community. Organizations like PFLAG (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians and Gays) provide support groups for families and friends of lesbians and gays. They also offer counseling services and referrals for medical care.
Other organizations include the National Center for Transgender Equality which offers legal assistance and advocacy. Additionally, the Human Rights Campaign helps fight against anti-LGBTQ laws and policies. Lastly, the GLBT Community Center is a resource center for anyone looking for information about the LGBTQ community.

Seattle’s gay population is estimated at between 50,000 and 100,000 residents. The city’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) community is estimated at 10,000 to 15,000 residents.
That means there’s a huge opportunity to reach out to this group through social media, especially since many members of the LGBTQ community use Facebook and Twitter to connect with friends and family.
There are two ways to find these communities online. One is to search Google for “gay Seattle.” Another is to type “Lgbtq Seattle” into Facebook’s search bar.
Both searches return pages full of information about local events, groups, businesses, and organizations.

Seattle is home to many different communities including LGBTQ+ communities. The city is known for its progressive values and acceptance of diversity. However, there is still work to be done to ensure everyone feels safe and accepted.
According to a recent study conducted by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), Seattle ranks #1 among U.S. cities when it comes to LGBTQ+ equality. This means that the city does not discriminate against members of the LGBTQ+ community.
However, the HRC found that discrimination remains widespread. There were several issues identified during this study, including:
• Employment Discrimination � Employers continue to deny employment based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
• Housing Discrimination � People who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, or questioning (LGBTQ+) face discrimination in finding affordable housing.
• Health Care Discrimination � LGBT individuals often experience health care discrimination due to lack of insurance coverage and access to quality medical services.
• Violence Against Transgender Women – Trans women of color are at greater risk of violence than any other group of trans people.
• Homelessness � Many homeless youth identify as LGBTQ+, yet homelessness rates remain disproportionately high among these young people.
• Hate Crimes � Anti-gay bias continues to be a problem in our country. According to the FBI, hate crimes motivated by anti-LGBTQ+ bias rose 5% between 2014 and 2015.
There are over 1 million LGBTQ+ adults living in Washington State
Seattle is home to nearly 1 million LGBTQ+ adults. This includes those who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, or allies.
This number doesn’t include children, seniors, or same-sex couples. The city’s population is estimated at 675,000 residents.
According to the 2016 U.S. Census Bureau estimates, there were approximately 7,500 same sex households in King County, WA. This means that roughly 2% of the county’s households consist of same-sex couples.
If we assume that each household contains two adults (one male and one female), this would mean that there are roughly 14,200 same-sex couples in the county.
While these numbers may seem small, they’re actually quite significant when considering the overall LGBTQ+ population in the United States. According to the 2015 American Community Survey, there are over 40 million LGBTQ+ adults living across the country.
Washington state is home to over 1 million LGBTQ+ individuals. This makes us the third largest state in the nation after California and New York.
To put things in perspective, the total number of same-sex couples in America is approximately 4 million. So, Washington state is home to roughly 5% of the entire LGBTQ+ adult population in the United States!
