Here are some popular options:OkCupid – This site was founded in 1996 and is still going strong today. They’ve been featured in The New York Times, Time Magazine, USA Today, and Forbes magazine. Their slogan is “Life is short. Have an affair.”
They claim to be the largest free online dating site with over 40 million members worldwide.
Zoosk – Zoosk was founded in 2004 and is another popular free online dating site. They say their mission is to help people connect with others through meaningful relationships.
Their motto is “Connecting Singles Since 1999”. Match.com – Match.com was founded in 1995 and is one of the oldest and biggest free online dating sites. They boast over 10 million registered members and have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Fortune Magazine, Business Week, and USA Today.
Match.com says its goal is to “connect singles everywhere.” PlentyOfFish – Plenty Of Fish (POF) was founded in 2006 and claims to be the world’s largest free online dating site. POF boasts over 30 million members and has been featured in The Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan, and Men’s Health.
Plenty Of Fish says their goal is to “bring people together.” Christian Mingle – ChristianMingle was founded in 2002 and is considered one of the top 5 free online dating sites. It boasts over 20 million members and has been mentioned in The Washington Post, Fox News, and Yahoo!.
ChristianMingle says its goal is to bring Christians together. Match.com – Match is one of the original free online dating sites and has been around since 1995. They currently boast over 12 million members and have been featured on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, and NPR.
Match says its goal is to match people based on compatibility. eHarmony – eHarmony was founded in 2000 and is known for being one of the first online dating sites. They currently boast over 15 million members and have been mentioned in People Magazine, Us Weekly, and The New York Times.
The Cost of Using OkCupid
OkCupid is a dating site where users create profiles and search for matches based on location, age, gender, interests, etc. The site charges nothing to use, but does take a small percentage of every transaction made through its network.
That means if you’re looking to meet someone special, you may be paying a lot more than you realize.
To find out how much OkCupid costs, we spoke with the company’s CEO Christian Rudder. He told us that OkCupid takes between 2% and 4% of each user’s total transactions, depending on whether they pay monthly or annually.
If you’re not interested in meeting anyone right now, there’s no need to worry. Rudder says that OkCupid only collects this information when a member signs up for a paid subscription. So, if you’re just browsing the site, you won’t be charged any fees.
However, if you decide to sign up for a paid membership, you’ll be charged $9.99 per month (or $89.88 per year). This fee covers the cost of running the site, including servers, bandwidth, and staff salaries.
Rudder says that OkCupid doesn’t keep track of how many memberships are sold, so he couldn’t tell us exactly how many people are currently paying for subscriptions. But, he did say that OkCupid has been growing at a rate of 50% per year since launching in 2004.
Free vs Paid Dating Apps
OkCupid is free, but there are paid options available. The most popular option is called Tinder, which allows users to swipe right (like) or left (dislike) on photos of other users. Users who match with each other can chat privately through the app.
Tinder is only available for Android devices, but OkCupid offers its own app for iOS and Android. This means you can use either platform to find dates.
If you’re looking for a dating site that caters specifically to gay men, try Grindr. Like Tinder, Grindr lets users search for matches based on location, age, gender, sexual orientation, etc.
