Craigslist is one of the oldest classified sites online and still remains one of the best ways to find jobs, apartments, cars, services, etc. But, it isn’t always the easiest place to post ads. In fact, there are a lot of problems with posting ads on Craigslist. They don’t show up on mobile devices, you can’t search them easily, and they aren’t optimized for smartphones.
But, there is a solution to all of these issues. There are several alternatives to Craigslist that you should check out. Here are three of my favorites:
1) Kijiji
Kijiji is Canada’s answer to Craigslist. Like Craigslist, it’s free to list items and browse others. Unlike Craigslist, however, Kijiji is designed specifically for mobile phones and tablets. And, unlike Craigslist, you can actually search within the site.
2) Gumtree
Gumtree is Australia’s answer to Kijiji. It also offers similar features to Kijiji but it’s not quite as user-friendly. For example, you won’t be able search within the site. Instead, you’ll have to click off to a separate website to search.
3) LocalBitcoins
LocalBitcoins is an alternative to both Craigslist and Kijiji. It’s a peer-to-peer marketplace where buyers and sellers connect directly. You can buy anything from real estate to electronics to collectibles.
So, which one should you use? Well, I personally prefer Kijiji because it’s the simplest. But, if you want something specific, LocalBitcoins may be the way to go.
Free Classified Ads
Craigslist is a great place to find free classified ads. However, there are some things you should be aware of when posting free ads on Craigslist.
First, you need to understand that Craigslist is not a professional advertising venue. People post free ads because they’re looking for something specific, and they expect to receive responses quickly. They may not pay close attention to details, such as spelling errors or grammatical mistakes.
Second, Craigslist doesn’t offer any guarantees regarding the quality of its listings. So, if you’re going to list items on Craigslist, you must assume responsibility for them yourself.
