It depends on the region. In Jamaica, we call them ‘babies’. We also refer to them as ‘girls’. But, in Barbados, we call them “girlfriends”. And, in Trinidad, we call them “baby mamas”.
But, in general, we call them ‘babies’.
We don’t really have a word for ‘boyfriend’ because we consider boyfriends to be very similar to husbands.
So, basically, we just call her/him a baby.
Why do we use the word ‘girlfriend’?
