According to Pew Research Center, one in ten adults uses online dating sites or mobile dating apps. Of those, about half are currently married or living with a partner.

While dating apps are still largely dominated by heterosexual couples, many queer individuals also use them to connect with potential partners. For example, the number of queer American adults who reported being in a relationship climbed from 27 percent in 2005 to 38 percent in 2016.
And, while the majority of queer people use traditional methods of offline dating such as bars, clubs, and parties, online dating apps provide a convenient alternative.
As a result, many queer individuals prefer to use dating apps rather than relying solely on word of mouth or personal connections. One survey found that 58 percent of respondents had tried online dating, compared to just 17 percent who said they had ever gone on a blind date.
But, not every queer individual is thrilled with the idea of using dating apps. Some worry that the anonymity provided by online dating could lead to harassment or worse. Others argue that the lack of face time makes it harder to build meaningful relationships. Still others simply don’t want to waste time swiping left or right.
Regardless of whether you agree with these concerns, it’s important to remember that dating apps aren’t inherently bad or good. They simply offer different opportunities and challenges for queer individuals.
For instance, because online dating apps often require minimal effort, they tend to attract less selective users. That means that if youre looking for a serious relationship, you might need to put in some extra effort to find a compatible partner.
On the flip side, however, online dating apps are much easier to use than traditional methods of finding dates. As a result, they tend to attract younger, more tech savvy users.

According to statistics, there are currently over 100 million active users on online dating sites. Of those, only 1% are women. So where are all these guys hiding?
Well, most of them are on dating apps. And according to stats, there are now over 50 million active users on Tinder alone.
That means that out of every 10 men who use online dating sites, 9 of them are on Tinder.
And since Tinder is free, it makes sense that more men would be using it than any other site.
